Desire the Fire aims to deliver this experience for people of all ages and from all backgrounds. We encourage our congregation to become involved and participate fully in the service. Members of our congregation will frequently come forward and share with us a prophecy, or a testimony of how God has touched their lives, or someone close to them. This could be someone whose family member has been healed by prayer, or simply an instance of how someone feels their life has been blessed through their trust in God. Our Young PeopleKidzalive, for children up to eleven is a mix of bible teaching with children’s activities such as colouring, drawing, puppets, video games and computer work. These activities help with their learning in a very fun way. For teenagers we have NRG-ize on Sundays where the core elements of Desire The Fire are brought to the young people in a relevant and interesting way. Also for teenagers, NRG hosts social activities around the church, including chill out games Playstations, football, rounders in the park and pamper evenings…please see NRG. In addition to providing a centre for worship, Elim Christian Centre is heavily involved in the daily life of the community in Wigan. The Oasis Cafe is a meeting place for many of our social and community activities. In the Oasis centre we have Lone Parent classes, Parents & Toddler group, Slimrite Slimming Club, and our Adult Learning programme Working Wonders. Elim Social ActivitiesPlease visit our Social Section where you will see details of our groups for men, for women and for single people. We have craft activities, dancing classes and the Chatters Lounge welcomes anyone from the community to come and have a coffee and some social conversation. Elim Community SupportWorking with Wigan & Leigh NHS, our Phoenix Programme is a mutual help & support group for people recovering from mental health conditions. Through Lifeline we help people struggling against poverty in a very tangible way by helping with Personal Debt problems and Food Aid, where we provide food parcels for the needy. Elim Christian Centre offers guidance for marriage and support for those affected by divorce and bereavement. Finally, Elim Christian Centre operates the highly successful Oasis Nursery in Wigan town centre.
